Exploring my passion for photography
I started this blog almost one year ago (beginning of August 2014) and I am really proud I got here. Maybe it’s not a big deal seen from outside, but only I know how much I struggle with dedicating myself to a an activity for longer than few weeks / months. This personal achievement is not about blogging, it’s about the fact I finally know what I love most to do (in other words what my passion is): photography. During this one year, I NEVER felt it’s a struggle to take photos, process or post them, even though I did it with a full time job, and a quite intense one. Photography makes me happy and gives me a sense of purpose and it never feels like a burden.
Oh, and it’s my birthday today, and I feel really grateful. Wishing everyone love, health and happiness, and if you haven’t yet, I hope you will discover your passion.
Thank you for passing by.
Love,
Claudia
This might be one of my favorite scenes I ever captured. I was at the end of the Cowboys Stadium tour in Arlington, Texas, when I saw them. Since my camera doesn’t have a zoom, I was right behind them trying to steal this precious moment.
I don’t know much about American football, but I was curious to see who is No 9 at Dallas Cowboys, so it seems the little guy is a fan of Tony Romo. 🙂
Even thought I won’t specialize in any particular type of photography (I just like it all and I’m too curious to not explore everything) what I love most is photographing people. I think I understand what Annie meant when she said this:
“A thing that you can see in my pictures is that I was not afraid to fall in love with these people.” Annie Leibovitz
Maggie is a wonderful yoga teacher in Dallas, who once dreamt to be a ballerina. I am so lucky to be able to work with her, and hopefully we will be making some beautiful images together.
Fresh from a photowalk today in Deep Ellum, Dallas. I feel like someone has set this up for photographers…:)
I don’t know if it’s that I only get to live in places I love, or I easily fall in love with every place I live in, but either way is a win for me. I consider myself an easily adaptable person, and so far this has helped me enormously to be happy and grateful.
I used to be the kind of person who was looking for a place I thought was meant to be mine (or to define me), but I realized my place is in my heart, in everything I do and experience and wherever I go, I find myself at home.
And I am grateful for that.
The pictures were taken in the weekend, in Fort Worth, at the famous Fort Worth Stockyards.
There is something about this frame that I love. It was a one second situation: I saw them, I framed, they saw me, they smiled (wondering: is she taking a picture of us?), I clicked, I waved at them, they smiled. All this took one second, they just came out of the blue, behind a glass frame separating the Nasher Sculpture Center garden from the street. I wish I knew them to give them the photo. They just look awesome ❤
The photos below were taken in the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas, ‘home’ – as mentioned on their website – ‘to one of the finest collections of modern and contemporary sculptures in the world, the Raymond and Patsy Nasher Collection, featuring more than 300 masterpieces by Calder, de Kooning, di Suvero, Giacometti, Hepworth, Kelly, Matisse, Miró, Moore, Picasso, Rodin, Serra and more.’
This tour was part of a photowalk and during a busy time (and low light conditions) so I plan to come back when it’s more quiet and empty. More photos from the same photo walk on Dallas Photo Walk Flickr Group.
At first, I had these photos processed normally, but later I felt the need to make it look vintage. More happy with how it looks now. Chicago is pretty much the second city I visit in the US (after Dallas, where I live) and I was fascinated by it. I love the multi-layered aspect of it, where people, nature and buildings seem to co-exist in harmony.
I am really confused whether these pebbles are real, or glass, or they are semi-precious gemstones, but I’ll have to go back to the shop and check (a cowboy / souvenir type of store in Downtown Dallas). I thought they may be pebbles because of the many lakes Dallas has, but the colors? There must be a reason they had so many in a souvenir shop… I was obviously too busy with taking pictures to check the merchandise.
Bonus, an autoportrait, taken in the same place 🙂
