Textures, black & white

I have to be honest, I haven’t been taken that many photos lately and I struggled with my creativity and motivation. But I guess this is something that happens to everyone? This is a photo I took in San Antonio last weekend, a photo I ignored until I came across Ansel Adams’ pictures of plants. Sometimes I doubt my choice of subjects (or objects) but there is always something that gets me back on track. I really like how the camera captured the texture of these leaves. Focus could be better, but plants are everywhere, waiting to be photographed 🙂

I’m curious, how do you deal with your creative rut?

  1. I think it’s something you don’t need to deal, just wait when in your mind you feel a “click” Otherwise can help if you use a lesser equipment as, in terms of resolution, a toy camera or, in terms of convenience, a film camera; the idea is recover the fun. In my last travel y relied in a two megapixels camera and in the end it was quite creative, I feel more ideas with my main camera.
    Lovely textures, thank you.

    • Hi Francis, you are right, time usually fixes the issue, but it is consuming while it happens. It makes me doubt myself and that’s not good. I tend to exclusively use my Fuji x100S – pretty simple camera – but I have thought many times of experimenting with film. It also happens, when I have the rut, that I want new gear (you think you’ll do better with a new, better camera) but then I guess I need more to get out and take photos, or take a trip, rather than buy a new camera 🙂 Thank you so much for the feedback and for taking the time to check my blog. Keep in touch.
